I'm Sara Johnson

After 15 years as a certified classroom ESL and Spanish teacher, my career path changed when I was diagnosed with lupus in 2016. In 2018, I began teaching on online platforms, waking at 4 AM to accommodate international students. Seeking better pay and healthier hours, I turned to freelancing in 2021 where I developed strategies that increased my teaching rate by 533% in just six months.

In 2022, I successfully helped two young teachers from Colombia and Peru implement these same methods, with one increasing his rate by 400% and another by 250% in just weeks. These experiences convinced me that teachers everywhere deserve a practical system to earn what they're worth without sacrificing their teaching integrity. Now in 2025, I'm thrilled to share these ethical, proven strategies through Teacher Pay Project.
